9-15-07 Every year, the historic Cooper-Young arts district in midtown Memphis holds its own neighborhood festival. Students and members of Memphis Raqs celebrated the festival as part of First Congo's open house (where our studio is located).

11-29-08, 11-30-08 ME Percussion ensemble, Raquy and the Cavemen, made their Southeastern Invasion Tour through Chattanooga, TN; Birmingham, AL; and Atlanta, GA. Liz of MR joined up with Dandasha, Awalim, and Devyani Dance Companies for a portion of their sweep through the south.

Each year, the Memphis in May festival celebrates a different country. 2008 featured Turkey, and the Splendors of Turkey show at the Orpheum Theatre featured Turkish quartets, whirling dervishes, and the fabulous BabaZula from Istanbul. Dancers from Memphis Raqs and Desert Rose Dance were invited to dance with Baba Zula during their show to represent Memphis local artists!
